“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matt 11:28)
First Light Care (FLC) has always hoped to become a place of rest for the weary, a refuge for those troubled in emotions, and a source of hope for those in despair, relying on the grace of God. Even in the face of life’s challenges, it aims to provide a place of peace where individuals can find solace. To be able to provide professional services, both talent and hardware (place) are indispensable. We are truly grateful that FLC has always had a dedicated and professional team with experience in counselling and family therapy.
Furthermore, God has prepared a new venue for FLC. We thank the Lord that this brand-new counselling centre has now officially begun its service. We hope that through this, FLC will continue to be a vessel of hope, a refuge for the wounded, and a testament to the boundless love and grace of our Saviour.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of FLC. As we look back on our history and reflect on how God has led FLC to where it is today, we see His footprints everywhere, marking a path of grace. In the past, we have received support and assistance from various individuals, enabling FLC to help those in need, improving their mental challenges, mending broken interpersonal and family relationships, and allowing them to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.
Therefore, through the commemoration of our 25th anniversary, on behalf of FLC, I would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all those who have supported FLC. This includes our founders, counsellors, staff, volunteers, and donors. You have dedicated valuable time, energy, and financial resources, making FLC a place that truly provides psychological therapy and helps maintain family relationships.
To all those who have found help and comfort within the walls of FLC, we thank you for your trust in us. By entrusting your needs to FLC, you have allowed us the opportunity to walk alongside you on your life’s journey.
FLC’s journey is far from over, and there are many more 25th anniversaries to come. We earnestly hope that FLC can continue to assist and serve those in need in every era. Through continued professional service, we aim to help people experience the love and acceptance of Christ. In preparation for the future, FLC has expanded from initially providing services in Cantonese to now encompassing three languages (Cantonese, Mandarin, and English). This expansion is aimed at meeting the diverse cultural needs of this era, with the hope that FLC’s services can reach individuals from various backgrounds.
In the upcoming year, Mr. Gerald Cheung, who has served as the Centre Director at FLC for many years, will be retiring. We are grateful to God for preparing a successor, Mrs. Cherrie Liu, to take his place. First and foremost, on behalf of FLC, we extend special thanks to Gerald for his dedicated service at FLC, which has provided therapy and support to many individuals in need. May God continue to bless his family and his future endeavours in various capacities.
Regarding the appointment of our new leader, it signifies that God has not ceased His work at FLC. God continues to care for those who seek guidance, healing, and restoration through the newly chosen leader, addressing the needs of this new era.
Therefore, I earnestly request everyone to specifically remember Cherrie, the next Director of FLC, in your prayers. Pray fervently for her leadership, that she may be guided by the Holy Spirit in all her decisions, and that her life and work may reflect the love of Christ. May FLC, under the leadership of its new Director, continue to be a place filled with hope, healing, and spiritual restoration.
FLC remains a place where professional service enables the weary to find rest, the emotionally troubled to receive healing, and the spiritually despondent to find hope – this beautiful picture requires everyone’s participation. In addition to praying for FLC, we sincerely invite you to help bring this vision and need to your churches and communities. We also hope that you will support FLC financially. FLC has three major areas that require your support: Counselling Service, Preventive Education, and Pastors Renewal Ministry.
Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the churches, pastors, believers, and friends who have been steadfast in supporting FLC over the past year. Thank you for your continuous encouragement through prayer and contributions. I would also like to extend special thanks to FLC’s Advisory Committee, Management Committee, and all our colleagues and volunteers. Each of their efforts and contributions has made FLC’s work more comprehensive and professional. May God personally reward them for their hard work!
